A key area of concern for innovation driven businesses is how to maintain their business edge over their rivals. In addition, any business that relies upon brands to distinguish itself in its marketplace also needs to know how to protect and maintain the value in the brand. Beyond that, businesses use different models for earning profits which can involve granting limited or complete access to their innovations to other businesses and may, where, for instance, development costs are very high, involve collaborative technical or design work between a number of different businesses. All these activities and requirements have a common element - they relate to intangible business assets called intellectual property rights. These rights have been specifically developed by the law over centuries to protect ideas, designs, brands etc. VS&H is expert in advising on the use of these rights to protect and exploit markets.
